What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a holistic approach that recognizes the connection between the mind and the body. It is a therapeutic modality that addresses the physical and emotional symptoms of stress and trauma by working directly with the sensations in the body. Somatic therapy is particularly effective for individuals who have experienced trauma and stress, which can become trapped in the body and lead to symptoms like anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.
As a therapist who specializes in somatic therapy, I have seen with many clients how this approach can help release physical stress, tension, and emotional blocks that were untouched by traditional talk therapy.
What is a Somatic Therapy Session Like?
In a somatic therapy session, we will work together to identify the physical sensations and emotions that are present in the body. Through guided somatic meditation and visualization, you can develop a deeper experience of your physical sensations, and begin to release past traumas from your body.
In my practice, I combine somatic therapy with other approaches like internal family systems (IFS) and life coaching to provide a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan. By tailoring therapy to your unique needs and goals, we can work together to help you achieve greater well-being.
